60,000 Miles CBF 125

Blog Date - 29 January 2017

My CBF125 celebrated its 60,000 mile mark today. Considering I passed the 40,000 mile mark while in Ireland sometime around July 2015 i have covered 20,000 miles in 18 months. I hope to see 70,000 miles in 8 to 10 months but anything could happen between now and then.

The speedometer and odometer on Ren's CBF125 showing 60000 milesWoohoo!

My next target is 62137.119 miles which will equate to 100,000 kilometres. I would like to achieve 100,000 miles and go around the clock although I must admit this seems unlikely. Who knows, I'll just take things as they come.

That is genuinely amazing.
It's a testament to Honda and to you - long may it live on.

Cheers Bob. I'll be fully amazed if I do see 100,000 miles and it returns to zero. Might be able to sell it as a low mileage example then :)

60 thousand miles on a 125? That is both amazing and incredibly stupid. I am impressed that the bike can achieve such a high mileage but actually riding a 125 that far must have been very very boring indeed. You need to pass your test.

Stupid? Why?

Some people actually enjoy riding smaller bikes. I have myself run several 125's over the last ten years or so, even though I passed my test in 1983. In fact, one of my most memorable recent trips was a 200 mile day on a 125 VanVan from Brum down to the south coast and then east into Sussex. It took just four hours all on A and B roads.

If you read some more of the site you would note that Ren too, has a full license and also runs a CB500.

May I suggest you do a little more research and try to be more open minded before you start insulting people?

Ha! Cheers Crazy Frog. I'm not particularly insulted, I find it rather funny actually. I daresay I've done more motorcycling on 125s these last 5 years? than most do in a lifetime and enjoyed it too.

125 riding ain't for everyone, tis true. I am happy with my situation though, perhaps GRT didn't like his or her 125 and assumes no one else could either. Not to worry.

Have to say throwing the 500 around Scotland was very nice though - hehe!

The 60k miles is rather amazing. As another 18 months have passed it could be on 80k now? What's your servicing routine like, do you service as per the book intervals or more frequently? I've had a lot of fun over the years on small capacity bikes and rather cheaply too. Most recently I've had a PCX125 (great scoot) but I'm now running an Sh300i at the moment which I rate highly also.

I'll put the link to the 70,000 miles post.

Presently the bike has 75,200 miles on the clock. It had a hiccup this weekend when it died out on the road. Thing is I've had a similar problem and that was the plug cap. I cleaned the cap and it's been fine since. I think I'll get a spare cap and put it under the seat though.

Things change and presently the number of miles I'm doing on the 125 has dropped a fair bit. I've changed jobs and my commute is significantly lower now. However the poor, long suffering 125 continues - I intend to see just what it's capable of.

What sort of cap do you have? I find these NGK ones are the best.

As far as I know it's a "typical" NGK plug cap...as per the image and the link...
