Q-Tech Race Motocross Gloves Review
Review Date - 10 September 2015

Well this is a new experience...
Coming to motocross gloves after years of riding with road gloves is something of a revelation and a shock. My usual gloves are thick and heavy, designed to keep the cold out and provide some protection and padding to my hands. These motocross gloves feel like I'm riding without any gloves. This has both positive and negative connotations. It feels refreshingly light and easy with such slender material on my hands yet I also feel far too exposed and unprotected. I expected with motocross being about racing on dirt and therefore falling off a lot that motocross gloves would be extra super double toughened for protection. But hey, what do I know!
These gloves are Q-Tech's Race offering and are available here from Quads Inn, the UK importer for the princely sum of £10.95. Now I'm no expert but here are my observations.
They seem to be a well made piece of kit. Close inspection of the stitching and materials suggests they'll not just fall apart after a few days of use, unlike some gloves I've owned. They're completely breathable to the point where they're cold to wear on the road but you'll be thankful when you're sweating buckets out on the track. The palms have a light padding and the wear point between your thumb and forefinger has a little suede to take the extra friction from gripping the bars.
Wearing the gloves is a pleasure. The materials across the top are slightly stretchy which means if you have the correct size they're a close and precise fit. This gives a good feel of the bike and the controls. Whatever material is used inside them is soft, almost sensual to wear - steady on! I'm sat here typing this with them on which is testament to their comfort and delicate touch but hardly a measure of their suitability as motocross gloves.
They seem to be well made...but...
What is disappointing is the lack of hard protection. A brief look online shows many motocross gloves have hard knuckle protection and plates in places where injuries can be common. There is some thin rubber glued onto the back which may help somewhat but it doesn't make me think I'm indestructible like Iron Man. I guess they're built to a price. I'd call these budget or beginners gloves.
Still, what can you expect for £11?
