Winter Gloves Review Of Ladies Ixon Pro Well HP

By Sharon Parker

Review Date March 2014

I purchased some winter gloves back in October 2013. My hands were getting freezing to the point of being painful. My hands are always cold at the best of times so I knew I needed a decent pair of winter gloves to help try and keep my little hands as warm as possible.

So when I spied Ixon's Pro Well HP gloves with a cosy fluffy warm lining I just had to try them on. Oh they were so warm. I also discovered my little hands were not so little because the size that fitted best for me was a large. I had the bike parked outside of the shop and they kindly allowed me to take the gloves outside and try them on while operating the controls of my bike. One thing I have learned with gloves is that I have to go up one or two sizes in my gloves when riding a bike as opposed to being a pillion. As the rider you need more room to enable you to stretch for the brake and clutch lever. I also have quite long fingers so large it was for me.

the gloves in question laid out on a pink cloth

The winter gloves took some getting used when I first started riding with them. At first I found them rather cumbersome and there was no way on my first ride I could find the indicator switch. If I could hit anything at all it was usually the horn and the noise of it would shock me so much I almost jumped off my seat. It is true that it is not as easy to operate the controls with thick winter gloves as it is with light summer gloves. But once you get to the stage that you can no longer feel your fingers to operate your bike controls then you simply have to have a warmer pair of gloves. Winter gloves may take some getting used to but they are worth the effort. They keep your hands warmer so you can carry on riding through the colder months. Within a few rides I adjusted to the difference in the gloves and had no further trouble with them at all.

So for some technical details on the Ixon Pro Well Hp

They are specifically made for a lady fit
CE approved
Waterproof, breathable membrane
Thermal lining
Padded carbon knuckle covered with Noxilen on backhand
Reinforced leather palms
Velcro wrist strap
Hologram fabric on cuff and index finger
Pre curved fingers

Price MRP £45.99

My particular gloves have been in my opinion fantastic. I have owned these gloves for 4 months at the time of writing this review. I have worn them through some pretty cold windy winter days and my hands have been kept warm. Not super hot toasty on the coldest of winter days but they certainly have kept them from freezing or being painful. I also have been out in some torrential rain and was amazed to find them actually waterproof.

So in conclusion I have thus far found them to be comfortable, warm and waterproof. They have withstood cold, wind and rain and therefore I would not hesitate to give them a 10/10.
VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Hi Jo,

I bought my pair from The Motorcycle Centre Orrell http://www.mcobikes.co.uk.

However I have had a quick look on the Internet and have seen them reduced now to at least £35 because summer stock is on it's way. So have a good look around you might get a bargain!
