Thanks Motorcycle Centre Orrell

Blog Date - 07 October 2013

The gf recently purchased a Keeway 125 from Motorcycle Centre Orrell.

It's easy to hate big players. Tesco is "evil" because they sell us food, insurance, phones, eyesight tests and everything else. They want to take over our lives. Microsoft is evil because they make us use their apparently awful "Windows" program. Google is evil because they monitor everything we do online and try to sell things to us we don't need. And yet we use these companies all the time.

Motorcycle Centre Orrell is a fair sized bike shop. It's also part of a huge group of bike shops and importers here in the North West. As such they're an obvious target because they are successful and not a small family run concern as bike shops used to be "eeeee when I were a lad". I have a friend with a grievance with them from several years ago. I have been somewhat concerned about the service we could expect from a large company whom presumably don't care about individual customers.

Of course they were happy to sell us the bike. All I expected on the first 600 mile service was an oil change, the absolute minimum required. So when I took the bike I was surprised to find they had the bike for over an hour and that several items had been checked, lubed and adjusted above and beyond the oil and filter change. The mechanic also had a moment to assist me with some service interval queries I had.

A couple of weeks after the bike developed a fault. No side lights, clock lights or tail light. We returned the bike and the service desk got a mechanic to check the bike. This would be more than a 5 minute fix, so we agreed to leave the bike with them. The problem was fixed and a message left of the gf's answer machine informing us we can collect. This we did with no charges to us and a courteous service.

Now I know not everyone will have a completely positive experience at Motorcycle Centre Orrell. I know that things can and do go wrong with the service provided or the motorcycles sold. But so far the experience the gf and I have had has been a good one. We complain far too quickly and I for one will be here espousing my frustrations the next time a shop or product serves me wrong. But today I'm being positive and saying thank you to the staff at Motorcycle Centre Orrell for the service...so far!
