Booking My CBT And Picking Up The New Bike - Aug 2013

Due to recent changes in Tax Disc issue I am having difficulty picking up my bike. The whole business has now apparently been centralized. This of course has led to chaos and back logs. Alison from MCO - Motorcycle Centre Orrell has been great in keeping me informed of the situation but she can not release my bike until she has confirmation from the Tax office that the bike has been registered. This they said would be 3 days, then 5 and now maybe 10. Alison is not happy and neither am I.

If you recall I only have 30 days in which to pass my CBT and this is proving quite difficult without a bike to do it on. So we think it prudent just to call into the local bike training school - Williams Motorcycle Training, to see if by some miracle they have a bike small enough for me to fit on. To my utter amazement they do. A Yamaha RS 125, it is an old girl that is for sure but it is small enough for me to get my feet nearly on the ground. So now I am faced with a dilemma, do I just go ahead and book my CBT and use the RS or continue to wait and hope my bike gets released in time? I am confused, my carefully laid plans are all going awry. I paid extra insurance so I could use my bike for the CBT so what would be the point of that if I don't even use it. Urgh. But there remains the possibility that I might run out of time if I keep waiting. I need a moment to think so we say we will call back to confirm later. Once home I chat with Ren and decide to just go for it. So my CBT is booked for Monday 12th August, using the RS. The CBT is £80 including the use of their bike. GULP... I am scared now.

A couple of days later I finally get the call I have been waiting for. My new bike has finally been taxed, no tax disc yet but at least confirmation that it is registered so I can go and pick it up.

Of course I can not ride it yet but we will go down in the car and Ren will ride it back to his house. So off we go to MCO. The bike is ready and waiting. I check it over and Chas shows us the controls. It is a pity I can not get on it myself but at least it will be home for a little practice later if I am lucky.
Ren gives it a little ride around the car-park and then off out into the road with a promise to return shortly. I have been parked in so I am not going anywhere right now. On return he is happy with the bike and I am clear to go. I follow closely behind Ren in the car all the way to his house. Got to check he runs it in right and all that. Hee hee.

Once home I can't wait to give my new bikey a little go. So bike gear on and off for my first new bike ride around the backstreets. Oh my god I just love this bike. It just feels so right. Like it was made for me. Everything just feels in the right place, where it should be and the lower height makes a huge difference to my confidence.
I get so giddy I can not even take in the bf's directions so I seem to go in any direction other than those which I am directed. I can see he thinks I am a complete idiot but hey hoo right now I am queen of the road so I don't care. I can stop and start. I can get my feet down. I can change gear...I can like ride. Yeeaah !! For the first time I do not want to stop but I think the bf has had enough of my giddy state so it is time to call it a day. I am one happy girl.

However putting the bike away is causing a problem. We had hoped with a bit of manoeuvring we could fit 3 bikes into Ren's shed but this is not the case. Oh nooo, poor little new bike has no home. Then I remember a good friend of mine who lives just around the corner has currently space available in his garage due to recently selling his bike. I quick call to TM and being the lovely gentleman that he is he is willing to offer my bike a home for a week or so. He even suggests I bring a blanket along for it. Aww keep it snugly.
Bike is duly delivered and wrapped in the blanker for safe keeping. I give my new baby a pat goodbye and with a big grin on my face set off back to the bf's.

Now I enjoyed riding my bike so much I do not know if to use my bike the Keeway RKS or the Yamaha RS for my CBT. The only advantage of using the RS is that if I drop it then I will be dropping the bike schools bike and not my shiny new one. I decide the best idea is to wait until the following Sunday for me to reach a decision. That way I can have a real good ride on my new bike around the retail park and decide how I feel about it all then.
