A Damn Good Friday
Blog Date - 29 March 2013
Easter weekend has traditionally been the start of the "Biking Season". This year Easter is early, the end of March, and the weather is still bitterly cold. According to the weather people its something to do with the high pressure cyclone being too far North. Personally I blame the Government, why not? Everyone else does. So on a impressively dry and sunny but chilly Good Friday I headed out with a few members of the bike club and some other blokes who were tagging along.
"Ere, mister, let us have a sit on ya bike" at the car park in Settle.
Nothing special and nothing new, just a regular run around the well known biker brew stops of Settle and Devils Bridge taking in the Ribblehead Viaduct and Quernmore. It was worth the effort though. First off although it was cold the sun made a thoroughly welcome appearance and when it did I felt a faint tinge of warmth between the icy chills. Secondly the recent unseasonal snow was still on the hill tops giving the vista a whole new look. Thirdly it's good to stop and chat with friends old and new.
I believe this is Pen-Y-Ghent seen from Horton in Ribblesdale. Magnificent.
Inevitably I ended up at the back, taking my own merry time. I don't mind because it means I can look around, even stopping from time to time for the odd snapshot. I'm also lucky enough to know my way around so when we got split up with traffic and junctions it's of no concern, I know where I'm going and how to get home. We covered just over 150 miles while I drank too much tea and became familiar with all the toilets in the area. A damn Good Friday.

I took virtually the same photo of Pen-Y-Ghent today Ren. And some more from completely different locations. Beautiful.
