Electric Scooter...NAKED!

Blog Date - 01 August 2012

Phwoar!!!

c evolution bmw without plastics etc...basically an aluminium casting with some metal bolted on

Look at that, now that's what I'd call a chassis.  If you take a moment to look at it you actually realise that it's a battery pack with some bits bolted on.  There's a small frame at the front to hang some steering from, there's an even smaller frame at the back to put a seat on then what looks like an electric motor combined with the swing arm hung underneath it all.

This is the BMW C Evolution.  It's an electric scooter and it's blah blah blah...just google C Evolution BMW and you can learn all bout it's capabilities and all that.  I hope electric scooters and motorcycles can become a viable proposition and I think they'll be very exciting.  I hope they manage to figure out a way of quick charging or battery exchange.  I hope they don't start to tax electricity (more) when they take off.  I think electric bikes could be an important part of future transport.  All that's just waffle...

I just want to get what you see in the pic. I don't need all that fancy plastic bodywork, just bolt me on a couple of wheels, some lights and a bit of metal to rest me feet on and I'll be sorted!  Hmmmm....maybe a cushion too.

Its all very well producing these leky cars and vans and busses and bikes and such..............but................at what price do thes things cost regarding the amount of electrickery we will need to recharge them, dont forget that to produce lekky you have to burn fossil fuels ao dabble with the devil and use nuke stations.

It's a fair point...electricity is not "clean" in the way it's produced.

BUT...

A typical petrol engine is less than 20% efficient whereas an electric motor is over 80% efficient.

AND

It's a lot easier to make a power station efficient and produce less greenhouse gasses than it is to make 10,000 cars/bikes greener.

AND

Electricity is tranported over wires not in great big lorries that also burn fuel

AND

I just like the idea of an electric bike!
