Slighty Confusing Torque Setting On An MV Augusta

Blog Date - 08 May 2012

Mooching around, like you do, I saw this on the hub of the rear wheel of an MV Augusta...

Now...correct me if I an wrong but that states "220 ÷ 240 Nm".  The symbol between the "220" and "240" is a divide symbol.  If, taken literally, this is the case then the correct torque for this nut will be 0.9166667 Nm.  Which, in case you don't know, is not a lot.  That would probably be less than finger tight.  But it's an Italian machine, so it looks beautiful.  Perhaps the designers thought a simple dash was too plain, too ordinary.

Oh well, perhaps we should just admire it, I sure would not want to ride it if that nut is only tightened to less than one newton metre.
