Sunshine and Snow.

Blog Date - 04 April 2012

At the end of March the whole country enjoyed a pleasant warm spell.  I was most fortunate to have spent that weekend away on a trip to North Wales.  It was cold at night but the days were glorious and warm, occasionally too warm!  It is now a mere fortnight since my trip to Wales and now Scotland is deep in snow, the Pennines are closed with drifts and I even experienced a snow flurry on my way to work this morning.

The forthcoming weekend is the Easter weekend.  Officially it’s the start of the biking season but the weather won’t be bringing the hoards out.  Where it’s not snowing it will be raining.  Where it’s not raining it’ll be grey after the rain.  Easter Sunday is traditionally a big day to meet up at Rivington for the bikers and families alike.  While the bikers drink tea and bask in the sun (if there is any) the families walk up the pike to roll their Easter eggs.  Unless there’s a drastic change in the weather I can’t see much of that this weekend.

I ought not to complain.  The preceding weeks have been dry, warm….ish and perfect riding weather.  It can’t stay dry all the time, otherwise we’ll have a drought…oh…hosepipe bans due down south soon too.  I’ll try my best to make the most of the weekend, come rain or shine.  I’ll take the 600 out for a few miles and give the 125 a run to see some friends locally.  I just HOPE it’s dry but I EXPECT it will be wet, and cold.  Can’t rain forever though…can it?
